Gavin Hanigan
Producer - Filmmaker - Musician - Photographer - AV technician
I turn complicated subjects into stories people want to keep watching. The job in my heart is to keep asking why and keep giving how.
At Aalto EE I'm the do it all producer: filming, editing, live AV, technical development and taping together enough code and configurations to make complex work go to the audience / students beautifully.
I shoot events, portraits and run live event AV. Conferences, talks, launches, interviews, creative projects: I can plan it, shoot it, run it and edit it. A microbiology MSc (plus a BSc in Biochemistry with honours) and lots of experience with science communication also means I'm comfortable sitting down with experts, students and public alike.
After five years of living in Finland I spent a year producing, filming, directing and editing a feature length documentary with Lesley Riddoch, "The happiest country that almost didn't exist". It asks how a country works this well, toured cinemas and community venues across Scotland, mostly to sold out rooms. You can watch it online for free.
Beyond client work, I photograph around Helsinki and any squirrel that holds still (eau naturhel), play Finnish rock live with Juha-Matti Paska, and made Medieval Solutions, a card game where you pitch absurd fixes to a town's problems and oversell them to your friends.
Need something filmed, photographed, run or explained?
